The success by which a doctor can cure his patient does not depend, or does not depend solely, on his good intentions, but on the availability of correct medical knowledge, and the application of the right medicine. In the same sense, the prosperity and well-being of a society does not depend solely, and maybe not even primarily, on the good intentions of those in office, of reformers and activists, but also on the ideas and methods by which they try to ensure and enhance the prosperity and well-being of the people. It is therefore that the Murray Rothbard Institute will engage itself in that abstract but necessary academic debate, promoting a fundamental shift in the climate of ideas in Flanders, Belgium and Europe.
